I am participating in The Ultimate Blog Party hosted by 5 Minutes for Mom. Thanks for stopping by and checking out the party! This is my way of introducing my blog to people who may not know about it, so for those of you that already do, thanks for indulging me!
Welcome to My Blog: Music 2 My Ears
Welcome to Music 2 My Ears–my humble little blog about family, mommyhood, and travel. So why the name “Music 2 My Ears”? Simply put, it infuses the blog with two of my favorite pastimes: music and Disney. I think of this as one mom’s journey to embrace the harmonies and dissonance of family life (and believe me, there is LOTS of noise :-). But I wouldn’t trade it for one second.
Speaking of Disney, I’m an unashamed Disneyaholic whose earliest memories of Disney World include meeting Mickey and Minnie aboard the Empress Lilly Steamboat (now Fulton’s Crab House), the luau (complete with shell lei), and of course, Hoop de Doo! I have been to Disney at every stage of my life: childhood, teenager, college, newlywed, and mom.
My only regret: I wish I had been more persistent that my friends and I go to Disneyland Paris when we were in France! Interesting factoids: my dog’s real name was “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” (Cali for short) and I’m still pinching myself after our stay in Bay Lake Tower’s Grand Villa.(Second only to the Castle Suite, no doubt!) But don’t tell the kids about THAT one: my hubby and I snuck away for a “grownups only” trip to the World and finally checked something off my bucket list: the Keys to the Kingdom tour and seeing the Utilidors. Best. Day. Ever!
My Secret Wish?
I’ll admit it…I want to be Elphaba for one night. Who? Elphaba. The Wicked Witch of the East from the musical Wicked. I’m separating the musical fans from the rest here, but even if you aren’t familiar with Wicked, you should be. Based on the book by Gregory Maguire, Wicked attempts to tell the back story of the Wicked Witch before she faces off with Dorothy, Toto and company in The Wizard of Oz. The highlight moment would be levitating while belting out “Defying Gravity.” OK, so I don’t like the idea of having to be painted green–seriously, you must have some amazing skin care regimen to avoid breakouts after being covered in green makeup night after night! A close second would be to perform on stage with Idina Menzel, the woman who first portrayed Elpheba on stage. Either way, it would be “Wicked awesome!” Guess my secret isn’t so secret anymore!?!
Let the Music Play
My “rock and roll dream” is that you will find authenticity and honesty when reading my blog. Maybe make you laugh or smile. Have you listen to the music long enough to post a comment–and maybe even become a “groupie.” You can also find me on Twitter @sherryboswell, Facebook at Music2MyEars and as SherryBoswell on Instagram, and Pinterest. Thanks, y’all!
