Fitness February

February 4, 2015 by Sherry Boswell

OF GETTING FITSo long January—always happy to have it in my rear view mirror. January is such a letdown month after Christmas. And I hate the cold. Can’t wait for spring. Plus I love February for 2 reasons: Valentine’s Day (even if it is a cheesy Hallmark holiday) and my birthday (not a cheesy holiday in the least!)

So I’m happy it’s FINALLY FEBRUARY! Which I’m going to call “Get My Fitness On February.” I’m a rebel in refusing to focus on fitness for New Year’s but wait until February. It’s how I roll 🙂

So what does Fitness February mean? Well, here’s what I’m thinking…

-More exercise-after all bathing suit weather is just around the corner. Yikes! Stationary bike when watching TV, more walks with the family, and running. As for running…

-Training my puppy to go running with me. Ha-this should be interesting since she’s a herding dog. But actually we have already been doing this together and at smaller distances she does well. But when she decides she is done, she is DONE.

-Get back to doing yoga. I miss it. And my core is sadly missing it too.

-More food consciousness. For me, that means less carbs and sugar, and more fruits and protein.

-Water water everywhere. Lemon water to be exact. Have you seen the photos of the woman who drank only water for 4 weeks? Yes, please.

-Don’t beat myself up if you have a bad day (translation: if you eat a donut/have a Coke/skip exercise) But we’re talking one day—not a habit of it. Soft drinks have become a no-no for me, but sweet tea? Well, that’s a harder thing for me to give up. But I’m working on it!

I’m curious: what motivates you to stay on your fitness goals? Share your success stories–I would LOVE to hear them!

-Sherry
